The Canada Post shipping tool for the Canadian Library Materials Service administered by CULC/CBUC
Through the Library Shipping Tool, libraries have been able to send library materials across the country using stamps as a method of payment. While no other organization has been allowed to use stamps as payment, Canada Post was able to grandfather CULC/CBUC and its customers for over a decade. However, as Canada Post works to upgrade their product, libraries will need to join the ranks and cease using stamps as a form of payment. This change will take effect June 2, 2025. When should I stop stocking up on stamps?
We recommend you buy only enough stamps for shipping library material items to last until June 2nd, 2025, and use up your remaining stock. You can still use stamps to send letter mail. We strongly encourage using the Credit Card method of payment instead.
What is the last day I can use stamps as a method of payment to send library materials?
Stamps will be available as a method of payment until June 2nd, 2025. After that date only credit card will be accepted as a method of payment.
What alternative method of payment can I use to ship library materials?
While using the library shipping tool, credit card will be the only method of payment available after June 2nd, 2025.
What happens to library material items sent using stamps prior to the stamps method of payment being discontinued?
If the shipping label is paid by stamps before June 2nd, 2025, it will flow through the mail stream normally.
What happens if library material items sent with stamps is in transit after the stamps method of payment is discontinued?
If the library material item was paid with stamps as method of payment prior to the June 2nd, 2025, it will flow through the mail stream and reach its destination.
Will I be able to use the return label included in the initial library materials shipment after the stamp method of payment is discontinued?
The receiving library will be able to use the return label even after the stamps method of payment is discontinued.
